Welcome back!

The Library is now open again!

We are delighted to welcome students back to the library after such a long time!

Students can come to the library to browse and borrow books at breaks, lunchtimes and after school until 4 pm. Students are also welcome to use the library for reading or quiet study or to do homework. The library is extremely busy at the moment as lots of you want to borrow books and this is fantastic!

However, please only come to the library if you want to borrow/return a book, read or study as we do want to keep the library as a quiet safe place for you all

World Book Day 2021

World Book Day was very different this year as school was still closed and so we were not able to all celebrate books in school. The library sent out a World Book Day quiz to celebrate which can be seen on the document above. Students sent in many entries (you all found the last question the hardest) and the winner was the first student to email back with all the correct answers. We are delighted to announce that our winner was Gurjeevan Kaur 9CEF.

Answers to the quiz can be seen on the document below

Book Review: Dear Evan Hansen

What a powerful and moving book! It vividly conveys how difficult life can be for a teenager especially in school. Every unfortunate incident is excruciatingly brought to life. However, what came across is that there are so many lonely souls. Evan feels isolated, and feels that he is the only one to feel this way but there are so many others who feel just like him.

What I learnt from the book was something very important – that whatever you are going through you cannot run away from it, avoid it, or act as if is is not there , you have to let it in , face it , go through the pain and OWN IT!

This is the first book I have read in a digital format. I did keep losing my place and it made me realise how often I like to flick back through the pages of a physical book to check something I have read!

Book Review: The Long Way Down

Wow! This book really packs a punch! Do not be daunted by the free verse format as it is very easy to understand and the words have more impact as the phrases are short and to the point.

Will’s brother has been killed in a revenge attack. Should he now follow the rules which are:

  1. No crying
  2. No snitching
  3. Revenge

These are rules that ‘weren’t meant to be broken. They were meant for the broken to follow.’ He grabs a gun and gets into the elevator…. On the way down he encounters other characters in the elevator who are all dead from following the rules. Will he follow the rules too?
